"She has such a pretty face", said the vet tech at Lucy's check-up last week. A seemingly innocent remark, but one with much deeper meaning. He could have said.
"Looks like your dog ate another dog." "That's the shortest Swiss Bernese Mountain dog I have ever seen!" We all know what he meant. "That is one fat fuck of a dog!" Then the moment of truth. Lucy xwaddled to the scale, and the truth could no longer be avoided. Somehow, without opposable thumbs and the ability to open refrigerator doors or order take out, Lucy had put on nearly 5 pounds since last September. Ironically, this coincided with the time Kevin retired. Kevin....the spoiler, the enabler.
Pointing fingers or paws won't help Lucy get to her ideal weight. (which is about half her current weight!) Weighing in at a hefty 19.6 pounds last week was the wake-up call. Cutting her food in half, and forcing her to take longer walks have worked! She's down to 19.2 pounds. I barely recognize her.
